Maternal health remains a staggering challenge, particularly in the developing world, globally a woman death from complications during childbirth every minute. In Uganda, maternal mortality equally remains a major health challenge registering 440 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births. The causes for increased maternal health are enormous however, shortage of well-equipped health facilities with maternity wards in particular and limited number of skilled health workers have remained the main contributors to the problem. PaCT under her strategic objective of “Reduced mortality and prevalence of disease in communities” has continued to establish strategic partnerships nationally and internationally to promote health care services aimed at addressing challenges associated with maternal health including elimination of stillbirths. On 11th June 2020, the Mityana District LCV Chairman Hon. Joseph Luzige led the various district officials to commission PaCT’s project to construct and a stock a maternity ward at Kalangaalo HCIII in Mityana District estimated to extend services to over 500 mothers annually.
